My New Job

So I was recently employed by my dad to do some social media work for him and his companies (my idea). I began a Bar Louie twitter account along with creating a blog.
After getting everything started and getting a hang of the technology for the two programs, I realized... I need a blackberry.
In the social media world it is necessary to be constantly connected. I find myself being somewhere and wanting to tweet. But my phone is old and sucks and I want a Blackberry.
However, I do believe that I am starting to make a difference in my little social media world. I have had many followers @reply me and send me direct messages about the Bar Louie locations that they visit. And this makes me really excited and makes me want to tweet more.
What it basically comes down to is the need to be constantly connected and I think anyone who plans to be involved in the social media world needs to be as well. Especially for businesses.
If you want to take a look at my twitter or blog and give any suggestions I would appreciate it!

Facebook

Four years ago I joined Facebook. I was the hot new thing and a great way to keep in touch with friends from high school and to make new friends with people at Marquette.
Little did I know that four years later I would have friend requests from my aunt, step-mom, and grandmother. What is the deal?!?!?!?!!!!!!
How am I supposed to feel free to express myself and post silly pictures knowing that my grandma is looking at them? Talk about censorship! When did this become ok? Because I dont think it is. I am no longer all about being on Facebook because you never know who is going to friend you next!
Its time to move out and find some new forums! I'm on twitter, I have a blog, and I'm contemplating a flicker account.
So long Facebook. You shall be missed

The Job Market

As it is no surprise to anyone, our economy kind of sucks, and being a graduating senior, this seems to be a bit of a problem.
I was watching the news this morning and they did an entire segment on 2009 seniors and the problems that they are going to face going out into the work force. I thought, "Gee thanks! Like I didn't have enough of my own concerns about starting a career you go ahead and do a 5 minute segment on how terrible the job market is."
I get it. Finding a job at this time is no walk in the park. Its a good thing I'm not too worried about this fact. I, unlike a lot of seniors that I know, am choosing to not start a career right away. I figure I have the rest of my life to be working, now is the time to have fun and be young. And the downfalling economy only gives me more reason to stay away from the work force, at least for a couple of months.
I have no problem serving or being a nanny (which I currently do) until I can find something that sparks my interest. And, I'll be honest, I'm fortunate enough to have a father who owns his own business. So there is always going to be some sort of job for me.
So my solution to the economic downturn....... Avoid it.

Groundswell stats

I was curious to know if females from around the country were on the same page as far as social media things go. I compared females ages 18-24 from the UK, Europe, and Australia. I really wanted to know about Japan, but they didn't have any statistics posted. I could that the highest percent of joiners come from the UK and the lowest from Australia. Both Europe and Australia are a majority spectators. These stats seem to make sense considering the UK is hand-in-hand with the US. However one stat that shocked me what that only 39 percent of females 18-24 in Europe were joiners, compared to 69 percent joiners in Australia. I figured there would be more joiners in Europe then in Australia.
All in all the movement of social media seems to be catching on with the younger crowd. I'm likin that!
